What you need:

  • Basic masonry tools: trowel, margin trowel, hawk, jointing tool
  • A wet saw (rentable from Home Depot for ~$50/day)
  • Type-N or Type-S mortar
  • Metal lath + scratch coat if installing over wood-framed walls

If you've ever laid tile, installed a backsplash, or done drywall mudding, you have every skill you need.
